What am I Thankful for?

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving I cannot help but think of all the twists and turns that life takes and how we end up where we are. I think of all the friends that I have all the experiences (successes and failures) that I have had and I am in awe at how a little change in my path here and there has gotten me to where I am today. Had I made subtly different choices my life would be dramatically different.

To think that I would not be living in Sacramento typing this email to so many of my friends if it had not been for meeting my wife and her ties to the capitol city. All the friends that she has shared with me that have enriched my life in ways that I could have never imagined. The gift of our first son, Jack who brings me joy and teaches me each and every day.

To think that I would have never met my wife and had all these experiences if I had not quit the best job I had ever had (at that time), making more money than any other 22 year old I knew, to launch a new business with no clients or money, but only a dream. It was launching that company that created the need for an office, which in turn introduced me to my wife, Gina, who managed the office building.

To think I would have never met the friends that got me that amazing job to quit and launch my company had I not, on a whim, packed up everything I owned into my Jeep and moved to LA. I spent weeks sleeping on couches, in my car and in hotels until I found my place there. I walked up and down the streets filling out applications until I finally found my way.

Granted, the story is much longer than this, but I think you get the drift. Sometimes we all wish life could be a merry go round instead of a roller coaster. But without the ups and downs, the twists and turns I can assure you I would never have as much to be thankful for as I do today!

As most of you know, I love a good video to illustrate my point. Some of you may have seen this before, but I think it does a great job!

I am thankful for you, my friends, and my family and the journey that continues to bless me in ways that I never would have imagined.

Wishing you all the best for this Thanksgiving!
